Discussion groups, games you can play for fun, games you can play for money, books, and discussion archives are all over the Internet.
No serious poker player should be without access to these resources.
POKER DISCUSSION
There are a number of poker discussion forums on the Internet.
They differ somewhat in terms of activity and topic.
rec.gambling. poker
The oldest and most popular discussion group is the poker newsgroup rec.gambling.poker.
The discussion threads cover a wide range of poker topics, and it has a large, diverse group of contributors, from novice poker players wanting to know whether a straight beats a flush to well-known poker writer and personality Mike Caro.
Even poker legend Doyle Brunson is heard from now and then on rgp.
Your first stop on the Internet should be rec.gambling.poker.
it’s accessible from most mail and newsgroup readers.
The Web site maintains large, searchable archives.
It’s free although it does require that you set up an account.
The newsgroup is very active and somewhat anarchistic.
Some of the threads have only a nebulous relationship to poker, but the poker discussions can often be deep and enlightening.
If I were to suggest only one thing to read about poker, it wouldn’t be a book, it would be the archives of this newsgroup.
It you’re serious about poker, get yourself Internet access and start reading this newsgroup.
